Wishlist Wednesday - The Mindless TV Edition

If you are a Cablevision customer in the tri-state area you are probably mourning the loss of The Food Network and HGTV. I know I am. I miss Iron Chef - even Jeffrey Steingarten and his condescending criticism. I miss House Hunters - especially the episodes where the budget is somewhere near a million dollars and I get to look inside huge beautiful houses I know I will never live in.

My wish for today is for Scripps and Cablevision to cut the crap and give me back my mindless TV. I don't have much going on in my lather-rinse-repeat life right now - I need to be able to escape for a bit and watch Challenge (especially when that whack-job Stevie is a contestant) and Holmes on Homes (who I wish would visit me and my money pit!).

So, if you're like me and you miss these faces:

Go to these websites:

Click on the links to send a message to Cablevision to urge them to end this ridiculous stand-off and let us watch Iron Chef Morimoto work his magic in the kitchen and let us once again hear Sandra Rinomato tell first-time home buyers how unrealistic they are as she rolls her eyes at the camera.

It's the little things in life that make me happy and right now, I am not happy.

I think Ish reads my blog

"Taking to coloring" was on my wishlist for 2010!

Of course I could do without the temptation he still seems to have to put the crayons in his mouth. We'll work on that for 2011.
I think the trick is an audience - he has no problem coloring with his BFF cousin Alex!

Someone gets cranky when he's hungry...

Someone better make me something to eat - I'm hungry!
DADDY MOVE FASTER!!!
You're going too slow - you're making me mad!! How long does it take to make grilled cheese??!!
I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What did you do??? What is this, a burnt piece??? Is this your best work??
Ok, I'll eat it this time - but you better do a better job next time or you are so fired! What are you looking at mom? You think you can't be replaced?? You better watch your step too!

We need to learn to use the timer function

Because we cannot seem to master the self-portrait.

I know it looks like we were squishing Ish here, but trust me, he was doing that to himself.
Better picture of Ish here (even though he isn't looking at the camera - but what else is new!), but my face looks like someone hit me with a frying pan.
Better picture of me and Matt, but poor Ish is getting his cheek squished.
We clearly have work to do.

New Year's Eve

This year, Ish...
learned to sit up, crawl, walk, run, climb, sleep through the night.
started taking baths in the big boy tub.
grew into his convertible car seat.
cut a lot of teeth and learned to talk.
learned how to brush his teeth and share his Goldfish (sometimes).
started eating solids.
discovered the fun of playing on his own.
developed a crush on Channel 11's Sukanya.
started giving kisses and high-fives.
finally grew some hair!

Next year, I hope Ish...
drops his paci habit.
stops fighting his naps.
stops fighting diaper changes.
takes to coloring.
gains some weight (at least get out of the 5th percentile!).

This year...
Matthew lost his job.
we re-financed our house.
we welcomed 2 new nieces.
I failed to lose the baby weight.
we baby-proofed.
we survived sleep training.

Next year I hope...
Matthew lands a full time job.
we can take one vacation with Ish and one without.
we can get a fence for our yard so Ish can play safely.
I can lose weight and get healthy.
my family remains healthy and happy.

Goodbye 2009!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Better Than A $300 Maclaran Stroller

It costs $4 to rent this buggy for the day at the Danbury Mall. I would have paid much more!

Ish had a blast "driving" through the mall and not once did he insist on being carried through the crowded aisles. Plus it had storage in the back for our shopping bags. It was a post-Christmas miracle!

And PS - I got my Maclaren at a tag sale for $25 - but those things are expensive!!
