On Christmas Eve Eve (that's right, Dec 23rd), we decided to let Ish make his own cookies - of the pre-baked, less-mess variety.
He was quite excited.
He even waited patiently for Matt to open all the accessories.
He was - dare I say - gentle putting on the jelly pieces.
He loved putting on the buttons all willy-nilly.
Of course, there were supervisors on the job.
The little button pieces made Ish giggle.
And the icing tube was the most exciting thing ever.
Not too bad for a 2-year-old (with a 40-something-year-old's help).
After Ish's fun, Matt and I decided to tackle our very first Gingerbread house.
This one came with an awesome E-Z Build Tray - there's no better way!
We had one candy casualty - that candy cane on the right didn't make it.
I let Matt do the heavy work.
It's like caulking - and I don't caulk.
We collaborated on the tree and Santa figures.
And if I do say so myself, I think it came out pretty nice!

Wonderful photographs, depicting a delightful story of having lots of fun. Love the gingerbread house, very artistic.

I love how you think! Get the pre-made cookies and go straight for the fun.
I tried making house pieces from scratch ONCE - when they bake they change size and it's quite a challenge then.
When my kids were little we had a "house breaking" party on boxing day that they loved. (Except for one year when the dog ate most of the gingerbread house while we were out Christmas Eve!)
Your little guy is so cute - and I love how he needed to have the supervisors nearby. Those photos are wonderful!
Oh are these posts beautiful! I love the gingerbread house and men and the Christmas Story. I hope you are staying warm and enjoying the snow my friend! My husband is getting better with each day. Thank you for being such a great friend. Have a great day!

So cute. I wish we would have been more creative with our Gingerbread fun this year. We did do a semi-finished gingerbread house but the kids wanted to eat too much of it! :) Happy to find your blog.
It is so great that you guys did some baking and decorating as a family :) Making your own family traditions is great. Oh, and glad you had had some supervision in case there were any accidents..LOL!
