We tried putting Ish in his Thomas the Train costume quite a few times over the weekend. He freaked out every time. So luckily, I had a back-up costume. That didn't go over too well at first either.
Thankfully, once we hit the mall parking lot Ish seemed to be ok with his costume.
Things got MUCH better when he saw Uncle Brad and Mare Mare.
Once we were in the mall, dare I say, he seemed almost happy to be in costume.
Of course since we were at the mall, we had to ride Thomas.
And Bob.
Then we headed to the food court to meet up with Pop Pop and Mare Mare again.
While Mare Mare ate, Ish colored (thank you Dollar Store!).
Then it was time to Trick or Treat! Ish got the hang of it pretty quickly.
The mall was crowded, so Ish had to hitch a ride at some stores.
Once he realized there was chocolate in his ToT bag, he insisted on partaking!
He did pretty good - and he even shared some of his loot with me and Matt (although he doesn't know he did).
And on the way out, we hit up Thomas again.
It was a looooooooong day! And now it's time for my favorite part of the day - BEDTIME!!! ;-)

Leaves Leaves Everywhere
Even though Matt might think living next to woods is a pain in the butt in the fall, Ish wouldn't have it any other way. The amount of leaves we get is perfect for frolicking!
Ish had a blast today crunching through the leaves.
And he thought it was hysterical when daddy jumped in the piles.
Does it get any better than this?
But we of course couldn't let Ish think that leaves are just for fun. We put him to work too!

Doughnut Killer
As a special treat yesterday I stopped at a local bakery after church to get Ish a chocolate frosted doughnut (his favorite!). Actually, grandma bought him the doughnut and she may or may not have bought one for me and Matt too, but I digress. When I got home I put on Ish's bib, strapped him in his highchair and he dug right in.
And when I say "dug right in" I mean that literally. Ish eats doughnuts by picking off the topping.
Little by little he gets all the chocolate off.
And he's so proud of himself for doing it.
And in the end, the doughnut is dead.
And Ish claims victory.

Muscoot: The Video
So my son loves to dance. You may have noticed that in a few posts I've done. Well the country band at Muscoot really had him grooving last weekend. That is, until he was distracted by a young girl who stopped him in his tracks. And I caught the whole thing on video. You know, because I love him. Not because I plan to show these to future girlfriends or anything. No, that would be mean. ;-)

Pumpkin Picking
The weather was beautiful on Sunday so we took a ride to our familiar stomping grounds Muscoot Farm to pick up our pumpkin.
We took a quick spin through the Farmer's Market. Then Ish heard music and insisted we check out what was going on.
There was a country band playing as part of the Autumn Festival that was going on at the farm.
Ish was intrigued.
And he immediately started to bust a move to the country rhythm.
After some dancing, we headed out the the pumpkin patch to look for the perfect pumpkin.
Ish decided the best way to determine which pumpkin to get was to give each one a "sit test"
That's when Dada had to intervene. I was not in the mood to have to explain a pumpkin-butt injury to Dr. Huang.
Ish cooperated for a nano-second and we got a pretty decent picture of the 2 of us.
After pumpkins, we said hello to a few friends. The ducks.
And the turkeys. Made me look forward to Thanksgiving....
We explored the horse barn and learned that Ish is 8 hands tall. Good to know.
Then it was snack time. Because really, when is it not??!!
Before heading out we made a quick run to the PB vendor at the Farmer's Market and picked up a few yummy things (on the left is banana flavored peanut butter with raisins - YUM!)
Then we picked up a pickle for the road. Doesn't everyone?

Upgrade
We bit the bullet and installed rubber mulch in Ish's playground. Expensive, yes, but much better (safer) than the rocky dirt that was there.
Safer is the key word because as we all know, Ish is a maniac. I caught him trying to figure out how to get himself out of his swing.
He tried the innocent "Who, me?" face, but I'm wise to him.
And PS - check us out, we're the featured blog to follow today on Taking It One Step at a Time!
